DRAFT MEMORIAL LIST OF THOSE WHO HAVE PASSED ON

At this year's AGM our Treasurer, David Aplin, read out the names of many of those members who had died in the last two years and announced that the Trustees were keen to make a complete list and to find an appropriate way of recording their names and the year of their passing.

Over the last few weeks a draft list has been drawn up, unfortunately growing as it is passed around. The attached list has around 200 names on it but we don't believe it is complete yet. The Society's Journals and membership records have been studied but if the Society isn't advised of a death we often don't know. Included in the 200 and towards the end is a list of some 71 for whom we are either unsure or simply don't know the year of their passing and, in one case, we cant even remember his surname. Do you remember "Big Lew" (or was it Lou?) who used to sit in the Booking Office selling memberships in the late 1970's / early 1980's? What was his surname and when did he die?

So it is over to you - can you fill in any of the years of passing on this draft list? Have we missed anyone out? Have we, somehow, included anyone who is still with us? This is an important task that isn't being rushed. We want to get it right, or as near correct as is possible both for recent years but also for the earlier years, too. Like Big Lew, there have been so many that have helped in our development over the years and as we approach our 50th year we need to remember them.

When you look through the list can you please check that those listed under years are under the correct year. We are pretty sure they are but mistakes do creep in.

I have been tasked by the Trustees to collate all your answers so please send your information, updates, corrections, additions to me, please, either at qel@bucksrailcentre.org or to lystertony7@gmail.com - whichever you find easier. Please contact me even if you are unsure as others may be able to corroborate or add more information. Before I pass the list back to the Trustees I will circulate it again as it is so important that we get this right.

I look forward to hearing from you.
