QUAINTON EMAIL LETTER 19.04.2017

WEEKEND RESULTS - big THANKS

Our Chairman, Ben Jackson, has asked me to pass on his very grateful thanks to everyone who worked so extremely hard over the Easter weekend to make our Day Out With Thomas such a resounding success. Early indications suggest that it was 20.6% up on last Easter with a visitor attendance of 4844. Final figures are awaited from the advance booking agents to confirm this figure.

VEHICLE MOVEMENTS THIS WEEK

Met 1 is due to depart to Epping Ongar, probably for an extended summer stay, and the LSWR T9 is due to arrive at Quainton, I think, for a 2 week stay. We have hosted a few visiting engines over the years but the T9 is a new one for us and is a well liked locomotive.

The LSWR Milk Van is due to move from the down yard to the up in preparation for its move into Rewley Road where it will be placed behind Cornwall when she arrives from Shildon towards the end of May. Cornwall was due this week but has been delayed by the NRM.

AGM

A reminder that our Society AGM is this Saturday starting at 2pm

SCHOOL VISITS

Peter Sawyer is looking for help with visiting school groups on May 10th and June 4th.

If you can help please email him at education@bucksrailcentre.org

LOST LAMPS

As reported in the last QEL we have mislaid a pair of locomotive headlamps purchased last year to replace similar ones that have also developed legs and gone missing. The latest pair were stamped with our postcode HP22 4BY. A photo is attached of 4 lamps - the missing ones are the freshly painted pair on the left and feature black handle tops. If you know where they are please contact Adrian Aylward at the Centre on 01296 655 720 who will be very pleased to hear from you.
