EMAIL LETTER 26.2.17
details for the late Andrew Bratton
sadly died on Sunday 18th February and you should by now have
received this information in last week's QEL and in a notice in News
from Quainton this week.
ARRANGEMENTS Tuesday March 7th, 11am, Winslow
family are having a private ceremony at the crematorium which will
be followed by a public service at Winslow Church to which all are
invited. It will be held on Tuesday March 7th at 11 a.m. in St
Laurence Church, High Street, WINSLOW, MK18 3AB (around 15 minutes
from Quainton, HP22 4BY) followed by a wake at Quainton. I gather
that the family have asked that a barrel of real ale be available,
which is so very fitting.
you intend to come to the wake at Quainton (BRC), which will be held
in Rewley Road Visitor Centre, PLEASE could you phone the office to
let them know as it will help with estimating numbers for the
caterers. Ring the office on 01296 655 720 or email them on firstname.lastname@example.org
on our Members Only Facebook page have indicated how Andrew was
widely appreciated by so many for what he did for our Railway Centre
to bring it to what we have today and for his human touches and how
he helped and supported others in our railway society.

FEW BITS AND BOBS
Jackson, our Chairman, sends the following:
few bits and bobs...
indicators are that the Half Term Opening days were the best
attended for at least 5-years with over 1,000 visitors over the two
Sundays and the Wednesday. This despite a bitterly cold first Sunday!
Reminder - For anybody with an out of date PTS card or anybody
requiring a first card. There will be a course running at 11:30am in
the Oxford Room on Wednesday 22nd March - please let Adrian Aylward
know you are planning on attending or if you need/want to participate
but cannot make the date.
Day out with Thomas - if you have yet to offer to take a role over
the 4-days of Easter please let the office know of your availability
- there is always something to be done on these busy days.
next Executive meeting is on the 18th of March, please submit any
matters for the Executive in writing, by 5pm on the 10th of March so
it can be placed on the Agenda. The Hon Sec's tray in the copier room
is a good place to leave such things!
take this opportunity to remind you that Work Week this year is just
days away now. It starts on Saturday 18th March and concludes on
Sunday 26th March. Every member is more than welcome to attend on one
or more (even all) the days as there is always a myriad of tasks
needing attention before we open our Railway Centre for the main
season. And, yes, there are some of us that will be there every day...
your fancy, your preferred skill level or your interest a suitable
task WILL be found for you. Come and join us if only to meet others
in a more relaxed and talkative frame of mind. There is a very
different social atmosphere during Work Week as we are closed to our
visitors. Things get done that can't be done as safely with the
public around such as moving large lumpy things.
PTS course mentioned above by Ben will happen on the Wednesday of
Work Week - no, its not a coincidence!
