QUAINTON EMAIL LETTER 17.02.17

First up...

A thank you form the Chairman to all those who braved the rather chilly conditions on Saturday February 12th and helped give our visitors a very warm welcome. The feedback in the visitor book is, once again, full of praise for all the hard work done and effort that goes in to bringing our hobby to the attention of others. Let's hope Wednesday and Sunday 19th are a bit warmer!

From Peter Sawyer and the FB group...

There is a school steaming on Wednesday 15th March and, if all the schools interested go ahead and book, we could have 250 school children on the day!! (which will make about £1000 for our centre)

As a result, we are DESPERATE for volunteers to help take school groups around the centre on this and other days. You would need to be on site from about 9.30am and probably finished by 2/2.30.

If you think you can help, please contact me or the office ASAP

The Roster

There are still a few gaps for Gate staff and Guards in the rota, if you are either, or would like to train to do either, then please consider putting your hand up to volunteer and contact Bev in the office.

TWO opportunities

On Sunday 19th February you are offered the opportunity to come and shadow the acting Station Master, our Chairman Ben Jackson, for the whole or part of the day, and see what this duty includes first hand. Stout shoes, warm coat and good gloves recommended! Ben will be on site for 8:30am and staying until lock up is complete and is happy to to talk to anyone interested in coming along.

On Saturday March 25th from 11am to 2pm the Centre will be holding a 'Recruitment Day' - we will be inviting the public to come along and meet the members and hear about what they get up to in the various departments and teams around the site.If you know anyone who has expressed an interest in knowing more about what you do then this would be a good opportunity to bring them along and have a chat and walk around.

NB: This is a low key trial event and the learnings form this will be taken on-board for a re-run later in the year.
